About

Progress PA

This group began in February 2017, as PA 12 Progressives, when then-Representative Keith Rothfus and his staff repeatedly denied constituents’ requests for a Town Hall meeting.

Having been turned away by the Congressman, we began weekly “Where’s Rothfus Wednesdays” demonstrations at his Ross Township office.

Members and supporters showed up for 90 consecutive Wednesdays to press Rothfus on healthcare, the environment, immigration, women’s rights, and consumer protection issues. We also highlighted his refusal to stand up to the White House and Republican leadership on government integrity and ethics.

In 2018 Pennsylvania’s Congressional districts were redrawn, and the 12th district became the 17th.

At that time, we changed our name to Progress PA to reflect a broader focus on supporting Democratic candidates throughout Southwest Pennsylvania and at all government levels.

In 2018 Democrat Conor Lamb successfully ousted Rothfus from office.

Since then, Progress PA continues to help elect Democratic candidates to local and state offices through various methods, including billboard campaigns, public rallies, door to door canvassing, postcard writing, and phone banking.

We also support candidates and highlight progressive issues by creating content, including videos, graphic art, and photos for use on our Social Media platforms Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
